Late 2025 we had the pleasure of working on a shonen-inspired anime introduction for the new anime-UNO cards at Mcdonalds, which featured some of our favourite IPS including Naruto, My Hero Academia, Boruto and Spy X Family.  Specific cards in the deck allowed unique actions depending on the character they depicted, and it was our job to channel the energy of these cards onto screen.

We tailored the design to appear distinctly anime without leaning too much into any one of the four IPs.  Design and colour were paramount to this; we used a warm, primary-dominated palette that reflected the branding, and tailored each of the character's transformations to mimic accessories/clothing/context of the four animes without using anything concrete from the IP.  The arena's architecture took inspiration from arenas in Naruto and My Hero Academia, and centred the architecture around the Happy Meal Box; the box itself was designed to appear as towers/ Japanese castles around the edge of the arena.  The 'power up' moments were the most exciting part to design, as it meant us going 'full shonen' and using various VFX and camera movements to up the drama of the moment!

The result was a campaign we are very proud of, and that is packed full of action shots and character animation; our specialty!
