LMCC DISPLAY

We were approached by renowned Shanghainese London-based artist Jacky Tsai to animate a location based artwork for the large screen of the Liwen Business center in Hong Kong.  Commissioned by Sky Express Creations LTD., the aim of the work was to showcase Jacky Tsai’s vibrant and intricate artwork, creating interest in his upcoming exhibition in Hong Kong whilst also celebrating the Year of the Dragon.

This was a challenging project that had to utilise two pedestrian viewpoints, with two different versions of the film playing to those two perspectives.  A combination of 2D rigged animation and 3D were used for the various characters, 3D being utilised for the wooden dragon particularly, which had to clearly appear as though carved from wood.

After animating all the elements we had to map on our film to the screen, adjusting our colouring in response to ambient sources of light at the location.  The final film premiered during Hong Kong’s art festival in spring 2024 to critical acclaim, and continues to play at intervals. (edited)
