We are pleased to have collaborated with Capsule House, a multimedia art and music studio, in creating a short animated teaser for their project, The Tale of Kitsune. Capsule House owns an NFT collection of characters and settings inspired by Japanese mythology and is looking to expand into a more linear narrative for their characters.

Our sequence features Yokai tower, where Nami, a Kitsune, is speeding through during her morning deliveries before being whisked away by the Tengu, Kouta. It was an opportunity to work in a quintessentially Japanese style of animation, using strong shadows and a thinner, sleeker line structure.

The environment was created in 3D to more easily enable sweeping camera shots and dynamic perspectives of locations such as the staircase, which would be more difficult to render in 2D. The end result is a vibrant world, filled with a multitude of interesting characters and background details that give a tantalizing taste of what is yet to come from Capsule House’s creative team.
